MATINEE AT THE MOVIES – WHAT AN EVENT!

If you attended our Matinee at the Movies performance yesterday afternoon, you know what a special event it was. There were so many new faces in the audience and I loved seeing the enthusiasm (and attentiveness!) of the children in the audience – AND so many families in attendance together.

The orchestra really did a great job on the music performed. This type of music is richly orchestrated and often is very taxing on the stamina of the musicians. The brass especially have a huge role in the effectiveness of these works and I applaud them on an outstanding job yesterday.

I should mention that I forgot to give the Horn section an individual Bow yesterday as well as our Principal Horn Ruth Slone a solo bow. The horns add so much to these scores – a sense of heroism, expansiveness, and excitement. The PSO Horn section certainly deserves a belated thanks and ovation for their playing yesterday. And, congratulations to Ruth Slone on so many excellent solos. Thanks Ruth.

I hope you enjoyed the concert yesterday, and if you missed it, you can join us for some exciting concerts coming up for the rest of the season. My thanks to all of the PSO musicians and staff for making the day such a great success and for all of you who attended.

Warmly,
