Lions, tigers and bears, oh my! The Peoria Civic Center was filled with movie characters Sunday afternoon as part of the Matinee at the Movies concert. It’s put on by the Peoria Symphony Orchestra and features music from popular movies. Before the concert, characters from those movies, such as Frozen, Beauty and the Beast and Wizard of Oz came to life.

The kids were also encouraged to dress up at their favorite character for the costume contest. “We are always trying to find ways to bring music to more people in our community, and the children are a really important part of the audience that we want to reach,” said the Executive Director of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, Susan Hoffman.

“It feels great to be Abraham Lincoln and coming to the symphony,” said Richard Forbis, who dressed up as Abraham Lincoln. News 25’s Libby Allison was one of the judge’s for the kids costume contest. Six of the best costumes won a prize.
