David Snyder

David W. Snyder, Illinois State University

David W. Snyder is currently Associate Professor of Music Education at Illinois State University and coordinator for both the undergraduate pre-clinical experiences and the graduate music education program. He received his Bachelor of Music Education degree in instrumental music education from East Texas State in 1983. Dr. Snyder taught band in the Texas public school system for seven years before completing his Master of Music in horn performance at Southern Methodist University in 1992 and a Doctor of Music Education from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati in 1995. He has been actively teaching and working with bands in public school music since 1983. He has also been a member of the horn section in the Peoria Symphony since 1995. Snyder has been published in the International Journal of Research Studies in Music Education, Quarterly Journal of Music Teaching and Learning, Teaching Music and the Music Educators Journal and presented at national and international music education conferences in Ontario, Washington, D.C., Texas, Tennessee, Ohio, Georgia and Illinois. Professor Snyder is a frequent guest adjudicator and clinician throughout Illinois.
