Peoria Symphony Orchestra announce ROMANCE with Quartetto Gelato

The Peoria Symphony Orchestra proudly announces their annual Valentine

concert ROMANCE featuring world-class artists, Quartetto Gelato,

on Saturday, February 14, 2015 8 p.m. at the Peoria Civic Center Theater.

The four musicians of Quartetto Gelato will provide an intimate evening of cabaret style music.

Like a decadent dessert, Quartetto Gelato makes classical music something to crave.

You’re going to want a second helping of their fun, clever, and excellent music making.”

George Stelluto, PSO Music Director

Quartetto Gelato will present an evening of music, showmanship and laughter all included in a warm, inviting and endearing personal experience.  For nearly two decades this dazzling ensemble has enchanted audiences and critics worldwide with their exotic blend of musical virtuosity, artistic passion

and humor.  The concert includes musical selections from Italian Romantic favorites to stirring music of the gypsies and upbeat tunes of Rogers and Hart.

” Light programming, like comedy, is serious business.  Quartetto Gelato has the stuff.

Dry humor and occasional clowning are part of the quartet’s arsenal, yet first it meets

the requisite virtues of skilled music-making.”

                       Los Angeles Times

Quartetto Gelato has won the coveted title of NPR Performance Today’s Debut Artist of the Year and been featured prominently in NPR Broadcasts.  In 2007, the group’s first DVD “Quartetto Gelato:  A Concert in Wine Country!” was picked up by PBS throughout the U.S. for broadcast.  Most recently, Quartetto Gelato won the honor of Best Classical Ensemble at Canada’s 2010 INDIE awards.

This concert is presented without orchestra.
