As part of our 125th Season, we wanted to highlight the power and expertise of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Stelluto, Mahler’s fifth symphony does just that.
This concert is dedicated to a single, massive work, Gustav Mahler’s fifth symphony. Scored for an enlarged orchestra and lasting well over an hour, the symphony has several large, triumphant moments, but it also has moments of quiet intimacy, as in the serene Adagietto. Featuring Maestro George Stelluto, an 80-piece orchestra, and the iconic imagery of the bells-up, this concert will enchant you!

American conductor George Stelluto continues to inspire both national and local audiences. Now in his twelfth season as Music Director of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, his diverse abilities, innovative programming, and collaborative vision have earned him the reputation as one of today’s most insightful and inspiring interpreters (and presenters) of music from the Baroque to the Twenty-First Century. He has performed in the major concert halls of more than a dozen countries in Europe, South America, and Asia as well as over twenty US states. His recent guest-conducting activities include Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, San Diego, Milwaukee, and Pasadena symphony orchestras in the United States; international appearances with the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, TransylvaniaState Philharmonic (Romania), Ukrainian National Orchestra, KyivPhilharmonic, Orquesta Jovem do Estado Sau Paulo, and OrquestaFilarmonica del Ecuador; as well as performances with the NewYork City Ballet, Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, The RaviniaFestival, International Contemporary Ensemble, New York OperaCooperative, The Juilliard Orchestra, and Juilliard’s “Focus!” and“Beyond the Machine” Festivals, Axiom, and New Juilliard Ensemble. He gave his Chicago Symphony Orchestra debut in 2021 at the Ravinia Festival, his Avery Fischer Hall (Geffen Hall) and Alice TullyHall debuts in 2008 and 2007 with the Juilliard Orchestra, and his Carnegie Hall debuts in 2010 with members of A Far Cry. He led the Peoria Symphony Orchestra in its Ravinia Festival debut in 2018. His international debut took place at the Kyiv International MusicFestival in 2000.
