PSO Wednesdays is a new music series in the Village of Peoria Heights produced in partnership with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra.

Every second Wednesday at The Twelve Bar will feature members of the PSO presenting unique performances in varying capacities. While you will surely hear some Mozart, Bach and other classics, this series will showcase the vastness of musicianship and styles the PSO and its world-class musicians continue to bring to the region.

For our second PSO Wednesday performance, we welcome:

Lowell Koons
Leslie Koons
Hyo-Jung Chun
Christine Cicha

Leslie and Lowell Koons have been a part of the Peoria Symphony for the better part of their 28 years in the Peoria area. The violinist-violist couple, who met at a symphony audition in Florida, have played here under the direction of maestros Wilsen, Commanday and Stelluto, and in other professional orchestras prior to moving to Illinois.

They and their sons, Jeremy and Timothy, arrived in Pekin in August of 1987, Lowell accepting public school string teaching positions in both the elementary and high school districts, while Leslie taught privately at home, and subsequently has become a part-time instructor in the elementary district. Both boys became fine string players under the tutelage of members of the PSO (Jeremy violin, Timothy cello), and for a few years the entire family performed as a string quartet before the college years intervened.

Leslie and Lowell have earned M.A degrees (Leslie in Violin Performance and Lowell in Music Education), and they regard performing with the PSO as a wonderful opportunity and privilege.

Enjoy these very special intimate performances every second Wednesday in The Twelve Bar lounge on the third floor above EDGE, By Chef Dustin Allen at 4500 Prospect Avenue in the Heights (parking and elevator in back). This series is for all ages and there is no cover. Food and drink by Edge and the Twelve Bar will be available all evening.
