Country, Pop Musician Lyle Lovett to Perform with Acoustic Band at Civic Center

Where do you put a Lyle Lovett album in a music store?

That was always the dilemma, at least when most record stores were still around. To people outside of the country music scene, Lovett made country music. To those more inclined to country, he played pop music.

“A lot of record stores put it in both country music sections and pop sections,” Lovett said. “It’s always been that way.”

It doesn’t matter much to Lovett, 56, who has quietly spun a career that has lasted more than three decades by following his own direction and receiving support from his label, MCA and Curb Records, to explore his creative instincts, whether that falls under the genre of country, Americana, folk or anything else.  READ MORE>>
