PSO and AFM Reach New Agreement

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PEORIA, Ill., October 8, 2025 — The Peoria Symphony Orchestra and the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) Local 301 reached an agreement on September 19, 2025. Thanks to the cooperation of everyone involved, the collective bargaining agreement has been renewed through June 30, 2028.

Anthony Marotta, Executive Director of the PSO, states, “Our musicians are the heart and soul of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra. Their artistry and dedication are why we do what we do. I’m grateful for the collaboration and respect shown throughout this process, which led to a strong agreement reflecting how much we value our outstanding musicians and our dedication to the sustainability of the PSO for years to come.”

Music Director George Stelluto adds, “I am thrilled by the record completion of the new CBA negotiations. Congrats to both committees. A great day for the entire PSO!”

Jim Markum, President of AFM Local 301, agrees, “Thank you to the PSO negotiating team for working with AFM Local 301 to reach a new 3-year contract.” He finishes by adding the AFM’s slogan “Many of us standing together are more powerful than any of us standing alone.”

The Chair of the Orchestra Committee, Margaret FioRito, states, “The Musicians’ Committee members are pleased to have reached an agreement with Peoria Symphony management and look forward to the new opportunities this 3-year contract will offer, not only to the musicians of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra but to Central Illinois as a whole.”
