Peoria Symphony Performing America 250-inspired “Voices of a Nation”
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Peoria Symphony Orchestra puts a spotlight on composers representing the American voice and spirit
PEORIA, IL | January 7, 2026 – The Peoria Symphony Orchestra begins the year with a concert reflecting essential American music and composers in Voices of a Nation, taking place January 23rd, 2026, at 7:30pm. The PSO is set to perform at the Prairie Home Alliance Theater in the Peoria Civic Center. As we enter the United States’ 250th anniversary, this event brings the voices of American composers to the stage.
Voices of a Nation will feature themes that reflect the American spirit through pieces by iconic American composers John Williams, Michael Torke, Aaron Copland, and Ferde Grofé. The Peoria Symphony Orchestra is delighted to welcome Liv Warfield, Peoria native and R&B sensation, to narrate the words of Abraham Lincoln featured in Copland’s work.
Members of the audience may expect to be moved in many ways, from feelings of triumph, through deep sorrow, and into peace as they reflect on the deep history of America. Welcoming all ages, the PSO hopes to bring the music, history, and joy of a nation to light with a spectacular performance.
Maestro Stelluto exclaims, “Our program features four celebratory works by American composers: John Williams’ iconic Olympic Fanfare, Michael Torke’s vibrant Javelin (written for the Atlanta Olympic Games), Ferde Grofe’s picturesque Grand Canyon Suite, and Aaron Copland’s inspiring Lincoln Portrait narrated by Peoria’s own Liv Warfield! It’s a musical festival of some of the people, places, history, and events that make America special! Join us proudly in this opening celebration!”
The Peoria Symphony Orchestra has been a pillar of artistic excellence in central Illinois for 128 years, delighting audiences with its commitment to musical mastery and community engagement. Voices of a Nation hopes to encourage the audience to reflect on the past, present, and future of the United States through this wonderful music.
