The Peoria Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking individual who values growth and success for the orchestra and its team members. This individual will report directly to and work closely with the Executive Director leading strategy, maintaining relevance with marketing trends, developing new programs and strategies specific to achieving goals associated with attendance, subscriptions, and ticket sales, and promoting and maintaining the Peoria Symphony Orchestra brand.

This position is fast-paced and task-oriented with strict deadlines and requires experience in marketing, with an emphasis on traditional and digital strategy. The position requires imagination, resourcefulness, organization skills, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and flexibility.

The Director of Marketing and Communications will oversee the following functions:

  • Marketing Management and Strategy
  • Public Relations
  • Audience Development and Ticket Sales
  • Administrative functions including budgeting, contract negotiations, project accounting and management of interns
  • Work closely with the Marketing Assistant

The Director of Marketing and Communications must:

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related fields
  • Have 3+ years of marketing experience—non-profit or performing arts a plus
  • Proficient in the use of traditional, digital, and social media
  • Be experienced with Microsoft Office, spreadsheet, and presentation software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including writing for media
  • Graphic Design skills using Adobe Creative Suite a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment
  • Work at all PSO concerts and events
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends
